Brad’s good friend, Dan Gravelle who lives in Newburyport, Massachusetts, joined Sheldon to share stories from 2014 when he and Brad completed the Tour Divide; a self-supported race following the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Banff, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico.

Alexis and Brad peddle on in the mountains of Colorado. Their phones say they have coverage but they could not get a connection. Phil O’Hara joins Sheldon along with a special guest, Carol Goddard, CEO of Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Greater Halifax. Ironically, within 2 minutes of the end of the interview, Brad reached Phil and came in as clear as a bell.

After an early start today, Alexis and Brad have put in 100 km already. They hope to get another 100 in before midday and then take a siesta during the hottest time of the day. Today they were joined by Halifamous and Dartmouth’s own Minnie Pearl, Gloria McCluskey.

Finely tuned bikes after a visit to the Newton Bike Shop in Newton, Kansas yesterday, a shower, shave for Brad, a nap, good food, and in the good company of highly supportive owners, Team Croz are fired up for the last 38% of the race. In today’s progress report, greetings and words of encouragement are brought with a surprise visit from Mayor Mike Savage.

Today the fierce storms in Kentucky have brought Team Croz to a standstill after 109 km. They will take advantage by doing some laundry, eat lots, and recover. Also joining the call as a surprise guest is a fellow local rider and good friend, Wade Keller. Wade hosted a fund raiser at the Atlantic Beer Institute in the Keith’s Brewery.

With a 3:00 AM start, Team Croz has been cranking of the kilometers. At the time of the radio show, they had 133 in for the day and were just short of the Virginia state line. Our surprise guest, Matt Hill, called in from Tampa Bay where he is a senior marketing specialist with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and the AFL’s Tampa Bay Storm. Matt was one of best players Brad coached over his years at the helm of the of major midget team known then as the Dartmouth Subways.
